Maintenance training for a scale and HMI upgrade
Customer: BEUMEREnd user: A national parcel carrier
Experienced maintenance technicians already knew this parcel-sorting system; the upgrade changed what they maintained. SANTECH supported BEUMER on a scale upgrade for a national parcel carrier that introduced replacement equipment, new operator screens (the HMI), and a move from the previous scale controller to a programmable logic controller (PLC).

The challenge
The technicians needed to adapt to the replacement equipment, the new controls, and the updated HMI screens without sitting through training on what had not changed. Instruction had to concentrate on the differences while building on their existing knowledge.
SANTECH's solution
SANTECH focused instruction on the differences between the old and new equipment, with exercises built around the updated HMI and maintenance tasks. A maintenance training plan established the learning objectives, curriculum, and assessment approach.
Course materials and drawing references supported instruction on preventive maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting. A scripted training video reinforced procedures outside equipment access windows. On-site instruction included pre- and post-course assessments, course evaluations, and test-result reporting.
