The challenge

Live scanning practice depended on arriving trains, with only a few passing through each day. Learners needed practice interpreting inspection images, but opportunities to observe and perform live scans were limited by the train schedule.

SANTECH's solution

SANTECH organized training around train arrivals and developed digital learning activities, including gamified exercises, to simulate live scans during classroom time between trains. Image-analysis exercises and practical activities provided additional practice while keeping training moving during gaps in live scanning opportunities.

Role-specific courses combined instructor and student guides, job aids, and qualification checklists. Train-the-trainer materials and teach-back activities also gave customer instructors practice delivering the operating courses.

SANTECH's scope

  • Operator/analyst and secondary-operator curricula
  • Instructor and student guides, presentations, and job aids
  • Digital scan simulations and gamified learning activities
  • Image-analysis exercises and practical reinforcement
  • Qualification checklists
  • Train-the-trainer materials and teach-back exercises
  • An operator video covering the operating sequence
